Scottish history is mostly about big battles - if they weren't fighting the English, they were fighting each other. They didn't win many battles against their bigger neighbor, England, so the Scottish victory at Bannockburn is celebrated even today.
Robert the Bruce rallied the Scots and defeated a much larger English army on the fields at Bannockburn. The Scots love their heroes and King Robert the Bruce is one of their biggest.

We love our heroes too, and this elder is one of our greatest!
Field of Bannockburn - Peaceful green countryside today where Scottish and English blood once flowed so freely.
