Tired of castle crawling, on this P-day we headed west to the area above Glasgow called the Trossachs. Another beautiful day in Scotland, though not real sunny.
Loch Achray offered a nice view of a "loch" in Scotland. Note the lavender heather in bloom.
To get to a view of Loch Katrine, we took a "wee" trail and found this nice "style" to cross the fence. Old paths have public access across the British Isles.
Stopping to look at some heather (which blooms in late August and September). We also found a lot of ferns, some chest high.
Here are the ferns and Loch Katrine, at least a small part of it. It is about ten miles long and the SS Sir Walter Scott offers boat rides on this supposedly most beautiful loch in Scotland. These lochs are typically in a narrow glen. You can see heather high on the mountain.
We had a great walk-about, all alone on this beautiful trail. This is some of what we found. We were captivated.
Actually you guys live in some of the most photo graphic country I can ever imagine. I am so glad you are taking your P-days to see it, you won't regret it. And we are all benefiting from your wonderful photography and commentary.

Absolutely beautiful. When we went on Loch Katrine it was raining and did not look like this as I remember it! Just gorgeous and the ferns and heather. It makes some of those early classic novels that take place on the moors come to life, doesnt it?
